This August, the Philippines will celebrate the History Month with the theme “Pagkakaisaysayan sa Paglaban at Pagbangon” (History of Unity in Struggle and Recovery).
The celebration aims to show history as a means to unify the Nation amidst the many challenges it faces, including the COVID-19 pandemic, while recognizing that each individual has his/her own histories. We honor the heroes down through the ages who fought for our country’s freedom, while also paying tribute to the new heroes who continuously offer their services and lives for the country.
Also, the annual Buwan ng Wika will be celebrated this month of August with the theme “Wika ng Kasaysayan, Kasaysayan ng Wika: Ang mga Katutubong Wika sa Maka-Filipinong Bayanihan Kontra Pandemya." This year's theme aims to strengthen the use of indigenous languages in providing information to combat the spread of COVID-19 to the communities. This is built upon the spirit of Bayanihan or cooperation among the different members of the community.
The said celebrations are included in this year's school calendar. The Department of Education mandates schools to spearhead the celebrations of such events to instill nationalism in today's youth.
